Working with Projects
This topic includes the following sections:
Creating a New Project and Sequence
Before you can edit any assets into the Sequence Timeline, you must first create an empty sequence.
In this release, the Web Editor uses the terms project, story, and sequence somewhat interchangeability. If you are familiar with other Avid workflows, the use of the term "project" has nothing to do with a Media Composer project.
To create a new sequence:
-
Select the Web Editor app from the ACC Fast Bar.
The app displays one of the following options on the Web Editor home page:
-
If this is the first time that you are accessing the Web Editor, the app displays a Welcome banner with a Create New Project option.
-
If you have already created a Web Editor project, you have the option to either select an existing project (sequence) or create a new project (sequence).
-
-
Do one of the following:
-
Select an existing project (sequence) to load it into the Web Editor.
-
If you want to create a new project (sequence), continue with the remaining steps below.
-
-
Enter a name for your sequence below the Project Title field.
-
(if applicable) Select an option from the Render Profile menu.
If your administrator has created one or more render profiles, you can select a specific an option from this menu. Render profiles determine the possible outputs for your sequence. If you are not sure which option is right for you, select the All option to enable all outputs. For more information about these profiles, see Creating Output Profiles.
If your administrator has not created any profiles, the app does not display this menu and you have all publishing options by default. For more information about the publishing workflow, see Publishing Sequences.
-
Select a Frame Rate from the menu.
The Web Editor allows you to mix and match media in any resolution, frame rate, or aspect ratio in the same sequence. Therefore the frame rate setting has no bearing on your edit. Instead, your selection determines the frame rate used for this project's social media publishing. After you add your first asset to the sequence, the project frame rate cannot be changed.
The option(s) available in this menu are defined by your system administrator. If you do not see the frame rate that you need for your project, speak with your administrator to see if it is possible to add a new frame rate option. You might have one or many options available in this list. If you see the Same as Source option, the sequence frame rate is defined by the first clip that you add to your sequence. For more information about this menu, see Setting the Allowed Frame Rates.
n If you use the Same as Source option, but do not add any assets to your sequence, the project displays the Project Title window again after reopening the project.
-
(optional) You can click the Remember check box to allow the New Project window to remember your Render and Frame Rate selections for future sequences.
-
Click Save to create the sequence.
Loading an Existing Sequence into the Web Editor
If you have already created at least one sequence, you can load that sequence into the Web Editor using the following workflows.
You can load and edit sequences that were created in the Web Editor app only.
To load a sequence into the Web Editor:
-
Right-click on a sequence in another area of Avid Content Core and select: Open In > Web Editor.
For additional information, see Choosing the App for Opening Assets.
-
Double-click any sequence created through the Web Editor.
n Requires that you assign the Web Editor as the default app for this asset type.
-
Open the Web Editor and double-click a sequence from the list of Recent Projects on the home page.
-
With the Web Editor home page open, drag and drop a sequence to the app.
-
With the Web Editor home page open, drag and drop a sequence plus one or more source assets to the app.
In this case the project opens and the source assets are added to the Project Bin.
n If you attempt to drag more than one Web Editor sequence to the app at the same time, the system replies with an error as this action is not allowed.
Adding Source Assets to the Project
Now that you have a project and an associated sequence, you can add one or more assets to the project. Whenever you add a source asset to the project, it is added to the Web Editor's Project Bin. After the asset is included in the project, you can subsequently load it into the source monitor.
For more information on the Project Bin, see Using the Editor Sidebar.
To add assets to the project from the Web Editor home page:
-
Open the Web Editor app.
The Web Editor home page appears.
-
Drag assets from another area of the ACC user interface (such as My Collections, or the Search app) to the home page.
The home page displays a list of the assets that you plan to add to the project. If you add more than five assets, a scroll bar appears to the right to allow you to review the entire list.
-
Open or create a new sequence.
Any assets that you added to home page are added to the Project Bin.
To add source assets to an open project:
With a Web Editor project open, do any of the following to add the source asset to the Project Bin:
-
Double-click an asset from another area of Avid Content Core, such as the Landing page, the Search app, or other. As long as the asset is supported by the Editor app and you have configured the Web Editor as the default app for that asset type, the asset is loaded into the Project Bin.
n Web Editor sequences are not added to the Project Bin and open in the Record monitor by default.
-
Right-click an asset in another area of Avid Content Core and select, Open In > Web Editor.
-
Drag and drop an asset from another area of Avid Content Core, into the Web Editor.
You are not required to drag the asset directly to the Project Bin.
Duplicating a Project
Avid Content Core allows you to duplicate an existing Web Editor project. This process makes a copy of the entire project, including the sequence and the contents of the Project Bin.
To duplicate a project:
-
Select the Duplicate option from the context menu.
This option is available from any of the following locations:
-
Web Editor Context Menu
-
Right-click context menu on the Web Editor homepage
-
Right-click context menu in the Search app
The system displays the Duplicate Project window.
-
-
(optional) Enter a new name for this project/sequence.
-
Do one of the following:
-
Click Duplicate to make a duplicate copy of the project.
-
Click Cancel to abort the process.
-
