What is SaaS and why is it important?

The term SaaS (Software as a Service) refers to a centrally managed and truly cloud-native software solution. SaaS systems can greatly reduce local infrastructure requirements such as power, cooling, and space for dedicated server rooms.

As the ACC user interface is accessible through a standard web browser, local administration overhead is reduced. Engineering teams are not required to install and maintain client software on individual workstations, nor are they required to manage one or more (or often many more) servers that are required for traditional "on-prem" production environments.

Another important advantage of SaaS solutions is the availability of continuous user-facing and back-end feature development without the need to plan for lengthy software upgrades. Avid is able to remotely deploy new features automatically and without the need for dedicated maintenance windows.
